The only unconquered sea fort in India, standing proud in the Arabian Sea since 1490. Built on an island, the fort is accessible only by boat making it a unique experience. Features 22 rounded bastions still intact, three massive cannons, and several freshwater wells despite being surrounded by seawater. The fort was the capital of Siddi rulers and remained undefeated by Marathas, Portuguese, British, and Dutch forces. The architecture showcases impressive coastal defense strategies. The fort offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea and nearby Padmadurg Fort.
Located in Murud, 165 km from Mumbai via Alibaug. Accessible by boat from Rajapuri jetty. Regular ferry services available. MSRTC buses to Murud from Mumbai Central. Private vehicles can reach Rajapuri for boat ride.
