One of the largest and most impressive forts in the Deccan region, strategically located on the Sahyadri mountain range. The fort has witnessed numerous battles and historical events. Famous for Shivaji Maharaj's escape from Siddi Johar's siege in 1660. The fort features the impressive Teen Darwaza (Triple Gate), Sajja Kothi, and numerous bastions. Ambabai Temple is a significant religious site. The fort spans over 7 km and offers magnificent views of the surrounding valleys. The fort town has several historical structures and monuments.

How to Reach

Located 20 km from Kolhapur city. Well connected by road, accessible by private vehicles and state transport buses. Regular buses from Kolhapur ST stand. The fort is at an altitude accessible by vehicle.
