Torna Fort (Prachandagad)

Torna Fort, popularly called Prachandagad due to its massive size, stands proudly at an elevation of around 1,403 meters above sea level in the Sahyadri ranges near Pune. Historically significant as the first fort captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the age of 16, Torna Fort holds immense cultural and strategic importance. The trek to Torna Fort is a favorite among adventure enthusiasts, offering a mix of steep climbs, forest trails, and expansive plateaus. The fort features iconic spots such as Zunjar Machi, Budhla Machi, and Menghai Devi Temple. Torna Fort is located near Velhe village, approximately 50 km from Pune. Drive via NH48 → Nasrapur → Velhe. Parking is available near the base village. Regular buses are available from Pune Swargate to Velhe.
